thought that hit me tonight for the first time (surprised it didn't sooner):
if dylan promised to change his ways, if he got on medicine and took up feminism and never ever left me alone when I needed him again, would i start things over with him & try again?
If Dylan changes his ways because he's becoming who he wants to be, it's not the same as if he changes into someone you want him to be. No one can change into what someone else wants them to be and sustain it for too long without being miserable; I know that you are meant to be with someone who has the complete package from the start.
